巴黎首屈一指的木刻師之一Pannemaker的作坊為1866年的《聖經》刻了這幅畫稿；名字印在右下角。
耶穌坐在一間低矮的木梁屋子裡敞開的門旁，身後是種著棕櫚樹的明亮園子。馬利亞蒙著頭坐在近旁的地上聽著。馬大背對我們站在左邊，手裡拿著一個壺，半在陰影中。多雷讓日光從門口照進來，落在耶穌和馬利亞身上。
