刻版师Piaud在这幅插图的右下角署了名。这一张旧纸的中间洇开了一片褐色污渍，但版画本身依然清晰，从狮子的鬃毛到岩石的纹理都是如此。
一道光从上面的开口落到但以理身上，他穿着浅色的袍子站着，双手放在胸前，仰望着。他四周的昏暗中，约有七头狮子或卧、或踱、或凝视；一头爬上他身后的岩石。沙地上散落着骨头。
