The Widow's Mite (Le denier de la veuve)

James Tissot · 1886–1894

The widow walks forward out of a Temple doorway in a long grey dress and veil, looking down at her hand. Behind her another woman passes with a child on her arm.

At the left, on a stone bench by the wall, Jesus sits among his disciples in white and points towards her as he talks. Others sit on the far bench at the right.
