Feed My Lambs (Pais mes brebis)
James Tissot · 1886–1894
Brooklyn Museum, New York
Jesus walks with Peter along the stony shore of the lake, a hand on his shoulder, and speaks to him. Peter, in a blue robe and a brown-and-white striped cloak, opens his hands as he answers.
A few disciples follow at a distance on the path, one of them a young man; the lake and the steep hills lie behind. Tissot kept the scene simple and close.
