Venerable Micah of Radonezh
Commemorated: May 19 (May 6, Old Style)
Life
Micah was one of the first disciples of St Sergius of Radonezh and for years his cell attendant at the Holy Trinity monastery near Moscow. The Life of Sergius by Epiphanius tells that one night, after warning Micah that they would have a visitor, Sergius saw the Mother of God with the apostles Peter and John, and that Micah, overcome with fear, fell to the ground as if dead. Micah died in 1385 and was buried at the monastery.
