Martyrs Manuel and Theodosius

Commemorated: April 9 (March 27, Old Style)

Life

Manuel and Theodosius came from the East. Seeing Christians put to death every day, they agreed to confess their faith together. On their way to the governor they asked many people why he was killing Christians, and before him they boldly declared themselves Christians, to the astonishment of everyone present.

After some days in prison they still refused to sacrifice. They were hung up and torn, laid on sharpened tridents and finally beheaded, in 304.

Retold briefly in our own words from: the Lives of the Saints by St Dimitry of Rostov (1902–1916).
