Life

According to his Life, Quadratus was born in the wilderness outside Corinth, where his mother Rufina had fled persecution and died soon after his birth. Found as a youth, he was brought to the city, learned to read and studied medicine, but spent most of his life in solitude, and disciples came to him there.

Under Decius (c. 250) the governor Jason arrested him with his friends Cyprian, Dionysius, Anectus, Paul and Crescens. After tortures they were dragged through the city and beheaded on 10 March; a spring, the Life says, appeared where they died. Under Jason's successors many more Christians of Corinth were put to death, among them women such as Chariessa, Nunechia, Basilissa and Theodora.
