Hieromartyr Theodore, Priest, and with him Martyrs Ananias and Michael

Commemorated: November 29 (November 16, Old Style)

Life

Theodore Kolerov, born in 1882 in a village of Tver province, graduated from the Tver seminary in 1905 and served as a priest in villages before becoming rector of the Transfiguration church in Kimry in 1912. In May 1929 parishioners resisted the closing of the church, and he was arrested with the church warden Ananias Boykov, aged about fifty-two, and with Michael Boldakov, a layman who, as the trial said, owned a farm with hired workers.

The court in Kimry sentenced all three to death in late October 1929, and the sentence was confirmed on 20 November. They were shot on the night of 29 November 1929. A funeral service was held in the cathedral at Kimry, where many believers came. Fr Theodore was canonized as a new martyr in 2000.
