Commemorated: December 18 (December 5, Old Style)

Life

Elias Chetverukhin, born in Moscow in 1886, graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy and was ordained a priest. From 1919 until its closure in 1929 he was rector of the church of St Nicholas in Tolmachi, next to the Tretyakov Gallery, and then served at the church of St Gregory of Neocaesarea on Bolshaya Polyanka.

Arrested in 1923 and again in 1930, he was sentenced to three years in a labor camp and sent to the Vishera camp in the northern Urals. He died there on 18 December 1932 in a fire at the camp club; his grave is unknown. The Russian Church added him to the New Martyrs in 2002.
