The Regensburg Weltchronik, about 1400–1410, often puts two moments of a story side by side in one band.
At the left, the steward lifts a golden cup out of a sack while a young man in orange kneels and the brothers crowd round in alarm. At the right, behind a doorway, two men embrace — Joseph making himself known.
From the text
- The cup found in Benjamin’s sack (Genesis 44:12)
- Joseph throws his arms around Benjamin and weeps (Genesis 45:14)
The artist’s own
